Foodbanking Program

Founded in 1983, Shared Harvest Foodbank's core program is to collect, warehouse, transport and distribute contributions of wholesome surplus food and other grocery style products to 90+ food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and similar nonprofits in Butler, Warren, Preble, Darke and Miami counties. Shared Harvest also administers USDA’s Emergency Food Assistance Program for four sister Foodbank’s serving an additional 26 Ohio counties.


Direct Service Programs

Commodity Supplemental Food Program

A federally-funded nutrition program that provides a monthly box of 35 pounds of nutritious supplemental food for persons over age 60 who reside in Butler, Warren, Preble, Darke and Miami counties and whose income is at or below 130% of the federal poverty line.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach 

Our SNAP Outreach team helps individuals and families apply for SNAP benefits through in the counties we serve. Please call 800-352-3663 or 513-874-0114 Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM to apply for SNAP benefits over the phone. You can also directly contact a SNAP Outreach worker by phone or email with questions or for assistance applying for benefits:

BackPack Program

Provides nutritious and easy to prepare food for the weekends when other resources may not be available, to elementary and Head Start students who exhibit signs of chronic hunger, as identified by their teachers, counselors or other school staff, such as rushing school lines, poor attendance and classroom participation, hoarding food and unkempt appearance.
