Repackaging: Sometimes donors send us ‘totes' of cereal, macaroni or detergent. Totes are 4' x 4' x 4' boxes that contain bulk product – usually about 700 pounds per tote. We utilize volunteers to scoop, bag, seal, label, box and stack completed cases on skids, in preparation for distribution to our network.

Sorting: Each month, we distribute 35-pound boxes of food to senior citizens through our Commodity Supplemental Food Program. We utilize volunteers to sort and box an average of 21 food items per box, seal the box and stack the completed boxes on skids. We currently pack 1,200 boxes each month.

Processing Mail: We produce a quarterly newsletter (March, June, September & December) which requires assembly and labeling – currently we process about 4,000 newsletters each mailing. In the spring and fall we also do a direct mail solicitation that requires assembly and labeling – about 40,000 pieces each. We begin assembling the spring mailing around March and the fall mailing about August.

Special Events: Sometimes we have special events that help us raise money to support the foodbank. These range from art shows to NASCAR auctions to food drives.

nutrition When a donor calls with less than a pickup load of food to donate, we utilize volunteers who are on call to transport those donations to us.

Cleaning: Not glamorous but necessary – we can always use help keeping the offices and warehouse clean.
