In partnership with the food industry, the federal & state governments and local community food drives, Shared Harvest Foodbank collects, warehouses, transports and distributes contributions of wholesome but unsalable food and other grocery- style products to 150+ food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and similar charitable organizations in 30 southern Ohio counties which provide either hot meals or bags of groceries to people in emergency need. This charitable emergency food distribution network collectively serves 12,000 families each month who lack adequate resources to feed themselves and their children. In 2003, Shared Harvest distributed over 8.4 million pounds of food.
